Q Is there a sign-up or minimum monthly usage fee?
A No. i-Tel charges for usage only. You will be billed for the number of minutes called - there are no other fees.
Q Why is i-Tel so affordable?
A i-Tel is able to buy large quantities of 'phone time' and lines from the major carriers at wholesale rates.
Q Do the rates change with the time of day?
A No. i-Tel rates are the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Q Is this an internet phone?
A No. All the services use regular phone lines in order to ensure quality is not compromised.
Q Can I use the service from anywhere in the world?
A No, calls can only be made from regular and mobile phones in japan. If it's a number you wish to add to your present account then please contact us requesting that addition.
Q Can I use i-Tel from a mobile phone?
A Yes. If you are applying then just include the mobile phone number you wish to call from on the application form. If it's a number you wish to add to your present account then please contact us requesting that addition. Please also see using i-Tel with a mobile phone.
Q Can I send faxes using i-Tel?
A Yes. just dial as if you were making a phone call.
Q Is any special equipment required to use i-Tel.
A No. Any regular or mobile phone can be registered.
Q At the moment I use a different phone service, can I also use i-Tel?
A Yes, it's no problem to use i-Tel at the same time as another service. You can also use the i-Tel service if you are registered for MyLine or MyLine Plus
Q How many numbers can I register?
A You can register as many numbers as you wish. Remember you only need to register the numbers you call from. If you run out of space on the application form please e-mail us and remember to include your name and one of the numbers you have already registered.
Q What should I do if I wish to change the number I call from or add a new number?
A Please e-mail us and include your name and one of the numbers you have already registered as well as the new or changed number.
Q How do I cancel the service?
A If you don't use the service for 6 months then it gets cancelled automatically. However, if you are working or studying abroad and due to leave, then it's important to contact us with your address for the final bill and payment.
Q Can I use i-Tel from numbers that I haven't registered?
A No, the service can only be used from registered numbers.
Q Are all rates in Japanese yen?
A Yes, all our rates are calculated in Japanese yen. If you pay by credit card then the yen amount will be converted to the local currency by the credit card company. For further details on other forms of payment see here.
Q If I use i-Tel will I receive a bill from any other companies?
A No.
Q In Japan, how will the introduction of 'Myline' affect the service?
A You can continue to use i-Tel exactly as before. However you cannot register i-Tel for 'Myline'
Q I don't call that much, but can I still register for i-Tel?
A Yes, however, if you don't use the service at all for 6 months then the service will be automatically canceled.
Q How can I pay for the i-Tel service?
A By credit card, automatic bank debit or bank transfer if you are a registered Japanese corporation
Q Can I use i-Tel for domestic calls?
A Yes, our rates are very competitive.
 
Mobile Phones
Q Can I use i-Tel from a mobile phone?
A Yes. If you are applying then just include the mobile phone number you wish to call from on the application form. If it's a number you wish to add to your present account then please contact us requesting that addition. Please also note that rates differ for mobile phones (excluding North America). Q Can I call mobile phones abroad?
A Yes, and the rates are exactly the same as calling regular phones.

Q Do the rates change with the time of day?
A No. i-Tel rates are the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A No. i-Tel charges for usage only. You will be billed for the number of minutes called - there are no other fees.
Q Are all calls charged?
A If the opposite party's phone just rings or is busy then the call is not charged provided you hang up within 90 seconds. However calls that connect are charged. With mobile phones and modern fax/phones where you connect to voice mail or an answering machine or some sort of message service - as with all phone companies - these calls will be charged.
Q What is my credit limit?
A Your credit limit is the maximum amount that can be used in a particular billing period. It is fixed according to your payment method and payment history. It is unlikely that you will ever reach this limit, but if you do the service will be temporarily disabled. If this happen you will usually be able to contact i-Tel and get the limit raised.
Payment
Q How can I pay for the i-Tel service?
A There are 3 payment methods available
1. Credit Card
2. Automatic bank debit (also from your post office account in Japan)
3. Bank transfer usually available to registered companies.
The way to apply varies with the payment method you choose. For credit card applicants you can simply submit the application over the internet. For automatic bank debit and bank transfer you need to download the PDF application form and mail it to us.
Q When do I pay for the service?
A Usage is calculated from the first to the last day of the month. This amount is then billed as follows:
1. Credit Cards: the amount is billed to your card in the first few days of the month after the month of usage. Your card is always billed AFTER you use the service.
2. Automatic bank debit:
Japan -- after receiving your invoice around the 12th of the month following usage your bank or post office account is debited on the 27th of the month or the next business day. i.e. April 27, charge is for usage in March
3. Bank transfer: you receive an invoice around the 12th of the month following usage and we require that you make a payment by the 25th of that month.
Q How can I change my bank payment format?
A Changes in the bank payment method must be authorized by the customer. Please contact us and we will send you the appropriate form.
Invoice and Statements
Q How often do I receive a statement?
A The statement is sent out by mail before the 10th of each month.
Q What information does the statement give?
A It lists all movements in your account during the previous month as well as detailing all the calls you made as shown in this sample.
Q How can I change the address I wish the statement sent to?
A Please contact us with the new address.
Q Can I get separate statements sent to different addresses depending on the registered phone number?
A No, this is not possible. You need to register two separate accounts although, of course, the payment method can be the same. If you wish to do this for an active account please contact us.
